Simkins PAC on Same-Sex Marriage Amendment

The PAC also asked residents to vote against Amendment One. The explanation:

“North Carolina Law currently prohibits same-sex marriage. This is so completely clear it does not need any interpretation by a court. There are hidden dangers in this amendment’s implementation. Unmarried heterosexual couples and/or their children could be harmed by this amendment. We believe in equality as well as human and civil rights.”

The Simkins PAC has a record of successful involvement in local politics in large part because of its pragmatic attitude of mercy and justice. The reality is many of the clergy which constitute the membership are adamantly opposed to homosexuality on religious grounds. However, the dumb white rednecks who proposed this travesty make it a no-brainer for the Simkins PAC to oppose it.
