N&R Continues Cover Up of Wade’s Lie
Viewing the Recommended tab at GSO101 this morning shows the top four of five posts are about Greensboro city councilwoman and District 27 NC Senate candidate, Trudy Wade, and the lie she told the N&R about the reason for her inaccurate attack ad against opponent Justin Conrad.
(Congrats to Roch Smith, Jr. on the classified ads at GSO101. He provides a valuable community service and deserves to derive an income from it.)
But the N&R has yet to print Wade’s lie. Sure, it appeared in their blog, but until it appears in print, their position is tantamount to an endorsement of Wade.
Joe Killian is undoubtedly a very busy man with many excuses for why things don’t happen at the N&R in a timely fashion. However, the point has been made that while he was spending the time making the excuses, he could have been doing the work for which the excuses were necessary. In any case, the longer the N&R waits to print Wade’s lie, the worse this situation appears for them. At some point, we must begin to wonder why they choose to cover up Bill Burckley and Steve Arnolds‘ most recent campaign faux pas. As these things are piling up fast, it makes since to print the most recent lie, even if it makes the N&R look bad for having missed it, so it is prepared to miss the next one.
We recognize the N&R is not the paper of record in our community or even a reliable purveyor of local news. Sadly, it is what it is. But they still need to make an effort to get the story right, so long as they pretend to call themselves journalists.
