Addison Riddleberger

From Addison Riddleberger at the N&R Letters to the Editor:

The Greensboro Coliseum Complex has lost more than $20 million of taxpayer funds over the last 12 years. Now our City Council, headed by Mayor Robbie Perkins, wants to force Greensboro taxpayers into funding what will no doubt be another failed, big-government recreational facility: the performing arts center. Greensboro’s liberal City Council wants us to pay more in taxes, yet it has wasted our hard-earned tax dollars on extremely large losses.

The city’s responsibility is to provide a robust infrastructure, which includes: waste disposal, clean water, libraries and city police — not recreation. The city’s objective is not being a for-profit business, but an aid to bringing business to Greensboro. The city is not to be providing recreation to people; private businesses and companies will do that. We need to have true entrepreneurs coming to Greensboro to create jobs, wealth and a better way of life. Nothing can be done to help Greensboro unless we stop wasteful spending and vote out irresponsible council members. If only the council would allow capitalists to do their jobs, we would experience prosperity once again.

From Ed Cone at Word Up:

So I guess we should go ahead and shut down the parks and soccer fields, or at least turn them over to for-profit companies?

Also, it’s wrong to say the Coliseum has lost $20 million — you have to balance operating costs against additional tax revenue generated to get the net cost of the facility to taxpayers.

There are lots of positions on the continuum between Riddleberger’s Libertarian view of no involvement and financing the downtown Performing Art Center. However, it is important that the facts are related properly. I, for instance, am in favor of spending for all sorts of recreational facilities, the Coliseum and even the PAC, if the process occurs fairly.

Riddleberger’s parents, a convicted ephebophile and a publicity whore, just returned from a two week cruise of the Caribbean. They obviously have the means to provide for nice vacations. However, the money spent by the City of Greensboro to fund and maintain recreational programs often serves those who pay taxes but do not have the means to go out of town for frequent vacations.

Riddleberger is the little punk who edited the video of Guilford County Commissioner Carolyn Coleman saying something she never said. Like his parents, he is a demonstrated bigot, racist and authoritarian right winger. His mother is a founding member of the Tea Party-affiliated C4GC. Like his mom, Addison also writes for The Greensboro Guardian.

If the Riddlebergers thought they could take advantage of Addison’s young age to put forth their hatred and intolerance, they are mistaken. I will disparage his articles just like anyone else’s. I pity the boy for having criminal sociopaths as parents, but I am not prepared to excuse a second generation Christofascist.

    “over the last 12 years.”

Pretty sure he was in cloth diapers for two of those years. Destroy him.

It will be interesting to see what happens if he ever starts thinking for himself.

This is my view point only and I could be wrong. I think that if one is to write or go public with his writing that he or she have time under the belt. There is no way to talk about a fight if you never been in one, or talk about money when you never pay taxes or even work 40 plus hours per week. The best thing about being young is that you dont have to get involved in politics until your 18. I could also be wrong again but I think that there is some editing done with the boy stories before it goes to print. The kid seems to have a passion for being involved, but he should enjoy being a kid and one day he will be old enough to get involved.
Now with that said I also think that elected officials should have a public service history, some elected officials have never helped anyone but their own pockets, military, police, fire or EMS be a good starting place. I like to see people who have a history of serving and not work for someone they know all their professional life and never put their life on the line, talk is cheap and I can walk the walk, anyone want to see my record I will show them.

Addison Riddleberger has given his heart and soul to public service, volunteerism, and philanthropy. I’m jazzed to see what he has in store when he earns his learner’s permit!

If the apple falls anywhere near the tree it’ll be self aggrandizement, hedonism and debauchery.

Thanks FEC, I just can’t feel the power behind an article when there is no history. I look at it this way, it’s like a man telling about giving birth, will never do it but wants to be an expert.

Somebody gave him that $20M number and it makes me wonder what else.

I agree with you FEC, I don’t think it’s the boy writing but he might be a pawn. The boy should be enjoying being a boy

The free market seems to work with strip clubs, unless you are within a 1000 feet of a church or another strip club.

LOL. Maybe what downtown needs is a $50M strip club. I’m sure there would be no problem raising the money. It’s important to give the market what it wants.

I am trying to figure out if we lose the complex what does Greensboro have to boost the hotel and restaurant business. The conservatives need to relax and remember that governments are not about making money in their budgets, its about serving the people. The free market theory does not work because only a few get rich and a lot of others stay poor, its about creating class structure. The poor sit in coach and the rich in first class. The conservatives always cry the foundering fathers wanted this or that. I think some need a wakeup call, the founding fathers had no clue how the world would be in 2012, right to arms well that was a musket with one shot and now we have machine guns that can shoot hundred of rounds per minute. I also like to point out that the founding fathers were not perfect and mistakes were made. The conservatist need to remember that women had no right to vote, blacks were property and the indians were treated as less that human, but this is what conservatism is about, class structure. I like people to think about it, the founding fathers created different levels of being a human being, if you owned property in the free market then you were better then most.
