Did Romney Commit Voter Fraud?

August 18, 2012

From M.S. Bellows, Jr. at The Guardian:

Tax returns require taxpayers to state their residence address, and the Romney returns already produced, although partially redacted, state clearly that they lived in “Belmont, MA 02478″ in 2012 (tax year 2011) and 2011 (tax year 2010)…

But the Romneys, arbitrarily, refuse to disclose a copy of the returns they filed in 2010 or 2009 (for tax years 2009 and 2008) – which, perhaps not coincidentally, bracket the time period when Romney allegedly committed fraud by voting in Massachusetts when he actually resided in California. So here’s the question: did Romney put his son’s basement’s address on the returns he filed in 2009 and 2010? Or did he truthfully use his real (non-Massachusetts) address, thus implicating himself in voter fraud?…

So far, none of the reasons advanced for Romney’s refusal to produce tax returns seems good enough to justify the political heat his campaign is taking. But if those returns give a non-Massachusetts address, then Romney can’t afford to produce them, no matter how much political fallout his campaign faces as a result.

Wouldn’t it be deliciously ironic if Romney fell victim to voter ID laws which the GOP is trying to reform in order to exclude poor people who might vote against them?

The simple issue is that Romney can not be trusted. I just feel everything about him is fake.

Since we are on the topic of Fraud, I like to know why Romeny avoided the draft by going to France, sounds like a chicken shit to me. The funny part is that Romeny wants to lead the biggest and most powerful military and send young women and men to die but didn’t want to risk his ass. The GOP is funny when they choose to pick a candidate, the past I guess just goes away. The fact is that Romeny will loose, he can’t even take his home state, Obama will win.

      Obama will win

It’s not clear to me that’s a win for the electorate in the next 20 year period of time.

Assuming the answer is yes to the Fraud, doesn’t that make McCain an accomplice since news reports indicate he is privy to the returns in question ?

Surely there are one or two others who are privy to those returns, thus making them accomplices, also.

Or, is there no such law ?

Pragmatically, I’m not concerned with the law. Opinion works fine for me.

Sure. Opinion can be useful, especially in the political sphere.

RBM, Voter fraud is only an issue when the GOP wants it to be. I just dont trust Romney, he is hiding something and that makes him shady in my book, so Obama will get my vote.

I have equal distrust for each candidate so voting for either is not an option.

I am appalled by Obama’s abridgement of our constitutional rights and failure to address our problems. However, I suspect Romney of being a closet Keynesian using Ryan as window dressing for the Austerians. Therefore, I don’t see much difference between them.

There have been a significant number of subthreads at The Oil Drum on Austrians vs.Keynesians. It turn out they both share the likely fatal flaw of not incorporating finite natural resources into their models for consideration.

As I recall, Austrians has some minor advantage in adapting it’s model but I don’t recall the specific.

I should have qualified that Romney’s Keynesianism is confined to propping up the Ponzi. And you’d need Ron Paul to execute Austrian economics, rather than that charlatan, Paul Ryan.

What a choice we have, Gary Johnson is looking like a better pick
