Wade Fails to Respond to Lie

April 23, 2012

Fortunately, Ed Cone picked up my post or the N&R might never have responded.

Joe Killian commented on why the dog ate his homework again.

From Killian at The Inside Scoop:

[W]e’ve heard from voters who say they got the Wade ad the weekend Conrad sent his e-mail — meaning the ads would have to have been prepared and ready to mail before Wade was offended by Conrad’s taunting over the forum, perhaps before he even made the remarks.

Reached today on the timing of the ads, Wade said she had no response.

“I don’t really want to talk about this anymore,” Wade said. ” I’d prefer to talk about the issues. Let’s concentrate on issues. We’ve gotten off base talking about who said what when. We need to be concentrating on jobs in North Carolina and making this state as business friendly as it can be.”

From attack ad to “he started it” to “I don’t want to talk about this anymore” and “I’d prefer to talk about the issues” in one week.

“We’ve heard from voters.” Hmmm.., we’ll always have to wonder if the N&R would have done the right thing without being called out by a couple of local bloggers. And just how does Killian know they were voters? Why can’t he just come out and say it came from a commenter on their story? There’s no official mea culpa, but an attempt to make it seem like he didn’t fuck up. Anybody who cares at all about the story knows what happened. Why can’t they just be transparent about it? It’s not like we don’t already know the N&R is a bunch of incompetent whores.

Regarding Trudy Wade, as I said last week, the cover up is now officially worse than the original attack ad. Wade can pretend this didn’t occur, but the voters won’t and neither will I. At this rate, all Justin Conrad has to do is keep his powder dry. Bill Burckley and Steve Arnold are 0-2 managing Wade’s campaign so far. They’ve blown the first maxim of politics which is not to cover up an offense with a lie. It remains to be seen whether they’ll disregard the second which is when you’re in a hole, stop digging. Conrad at least seems to understand another rule which is when the opposition is destroying themselves, don’t help.
